Colombia Vallenato Music - International artist Carlos Vives

Vallenato traditional musical instruments


In Colombia we have a musical genre called Vallenato, this rate was developed from half of last century on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Vallenato is a musical rhythm consists of three instruments: drum, maracas and accordion. These three instruments are the mixture of three cultures: indigenous, African and European. Similarly, three people set up the vallenato, who plays the accordion also sings.



However, with the passage of time vallenato music ensembles they have incorporated modern instruments making them attractive for young people. At present there are more than one hundred sets vallenato, but only 20 have achieved fame throughout Colombia.


A vallenato group led by singer Carlos Vives has transcended the borders of Colombia and is now recognized in many countries of the world, Carlos Vives, was born in Santa Marta - Colombia, my city, who has won several times the Latin Grammy awards.

  1. I like this song! This song melody is exciting. When I heard this song at first, I think that this song use many instruments. Because the sound is awesome. But that is not true. So I was surprised that they just use three instruments. Thank you for introduce this song.
