Do you know Mt. Baekdu.?

Hey! Do you know about Mt. Baekdu.? This is the biggest mountain in the Korea. It’s height is 2,750m, very high. Origin of this mountain’s name ‘Baekdu’ is to this mountain’s top looks like white head.  Today Baekdu is so controversial issue between N .Korea and S .Korea and China. North Korea sell this mountain’s one part in China. And South Korea the opposite forward North Korea’s decision. Almost of South Korea’s people claim that never sell Mt .Baekdu. in China and if North Korea sell this mountain, they surely regret this decision. So I hope many of Korean concerned Mt. Baekdu.

Happy Quokka

Are you happy? Who are the happiest people? Just rich man? I think this question is very hard to answer. But, maybe I know the happiest animal whose name is Quokka. You don’t know why?

The Quokka’s face look very happy. Isn’t it? Quokka has a nick name, the happiest animal in the world, because they have smiling face always.

The Quokka is very small animal look like the rat, but they have pocket in their stomach similar to Kangaroos. And they rear their babies in the pocket. And they act in dark night.

They live in the Australia, Island. And, picturing with the Quokka is most popular activity in Australia!

The interesting places in Jeju!

Jeju is located south in Korea. I’m from Jeju. So I will introduce interesting places in Jeju! Jeju has a lot of interesting places, so I can’t introduce all of them... I’m going to introduce 3 places! These 3 places are Halla Mountain, Cheonjiyeon Falls, and Manjanggul Cave.

First, Halla Mountain is the most famous place in Jeju. It’s a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site. It is a dormant volcano, and it consists of basalt. It is 1950 meters high and the highest mountain in the South Korea. Therefore hiking Halla Mountain is so hard, but Halla Mountain’s landscape is so beautiful!

Second, Cheonjiyeon Falls are 22 meters high and 12 meters wide. The basin at the foot of the falls is 20meters deep. Surrounded by evergreen subtropical forest, the falls are renowned for scenic beauty. According to legend, a holy dragon lived in the basin. In times of drought, the locals would pray for rain at the waterfall, and it is said that their prayers were always answered.

Third, Manjanggul Cave is represented cave of Jeju. This cave is the longest lava tube in the world and a UNESCO Natural World Heritage. It is 13,422 meters in length. Inside temperature of cave is 11~21 degree for the year. This cave has pillar of lava and oval stone. The pillar of lava is the longest in the world. The oval stone is shape of turtle. Also it looks like shape of Jeju. It’s amazing!

 We have many outdoor activities in Korea. Actually in Our Korea’s downtown are assemble store each other different from Missouri.  For example Missouri State is too large to walk in downtown. But Korea’s downtown is assemble store, restaurant, theater, or café. So we can have many activities easily. From among these, although each people are different, the most popular outdoor activity is ‘talking’. We can talk anyplace without everyplace. We talk in the restaurant, on the road, driving, or walking. Even though we don’t  have to go out to talk because we can call by cell phone___each other. But It is exactly distinguished from offline and online. So Koreans want to talk face to face, just difference is where is place. In my case, I don’t distinguish the place, but I like to talk in bowling center. I do like to play bowling, so I can play bowling and talking both. So My most popular outdoor activity is playing bowling! 

The most popular outdoor activities in Korea - Bicycle

My family often ride bicycle. The bicycle riding purpose of my family is way of travel. We often traveled by bicycle to Daegu in Korea. The bicycle lane of Daegu is connected anywhere. So I like traveling by bicycle to Daegu. It is good lane.

 

Also Today, in addition to my family, many Korans ride bicycle.

Why is many Korean bicycle riding?

I think that bicycle riding of popular reason is four advantages.

First, cardio pulmonary function is development.

Second, bicycle riding aids the circulation of blood around the body.

Third, bicycle riding strengthen muscle.

Fourth, bicycle riding is way of travel.

This reason is same reason of my family.

To sum it up, because of advantages of bicycle riding, many Korean ride a bicycle.

 

 

 

Most popular outdoor activities in Korea

One of the most popular outdoor activities in Korea is hiking. Korea has many high mountains. So many people often go hiking on weekend. Why are they going hiking often? First, hiking is good for health. When they go hiking, they can breathe fresh air. And hiking is very hard exercise so they think they will be thin. Therefore people think hiking is good for health.  Second, people can get mental satisfaction. For example, when they arrive a peak they feel a sense of accomplishment. So hiking is good to the prevention of depression, and it is useful in getting rid of stress. Third, people can communicate with companion. While they go hiking, they can talk about many things. So they can understand each other better. For this reason, many people in Korea like to go hiking.

I love to hike in mountain with my family.

I love to hike in mountain with my family. In particular, the parents love the mountains Because it is a good place for heal emotions in the fresh air. Just we go once a year. Last year, My family go to the “Mai mountain” in Korea. This place is so many people because of the most popular place.

 

 

"Mai mountain" is composed of two peaks. Also it looks like the shape of horse’s ears. My family loves it! One of the reason why I like to hike mountain is my family love to hike mountain. Therefore, I will continue to push ahead with travel. In conclusion, this year I’m also planning a trip. I will consider after I return to Korea. I imagined to travel with my family. This trip will be really fun and memorable.
